World Grand Champion in 1947 and 1948, Merry Go Boy strongly influenced the Tennessee Walker breed as both a show horse and a sire. Merry Go Boy was a conformation model for the breed and has many times been cited for his distinct and perfect gaits. As a breeding stallion, he and his contemporary, Midnight Sun, "carried the torch" left by their respective sires Merry Boy and Wilson's Allen. Among Merry Go Boy's best offspring were World Grand Champions Go Boy's Shadow, Go Boy's Sundust, and Go Boy's Royal Heir.
