Personal Ensign (Private Account x Grecian Banner by Hoist the Flag) came in first in every single one of her 13 races, including the Breeder's Cup Distaff, and won nearly $1.7 million in the United States. She received the 1988 Eclipse Award as well as the American Champion Older Female Horse. Personal Ensign retired as the first undefeated champion in American horse racing in over 80 years, since the legendary Colin retired unbeaten in 1908. She went on to become one of the most important broodmares of the 20th century, producing great horses such as Miner's Mark, Our Emblem and My Flag.
