Rohde's art of famous thoroughbred Northern Dancer is a must for horse racing fans!
Northern Dancer (Nearctic x Natalma by Native Dancer) was the 1964 Kentucky Derby winner and the most successful Thoroughbred racehorse sire of the 20th Century! Born in Canada at Windfields Stud, Northern Dancer was small in size and largely ignored as a yearling. But in two years of racing, he won 14 of his 18 races and never finished worse than third. He was named North American champion 3-year-old colt of 1964 and Canadian Horse of the Year. Later, Northern Dancer proved to be an exceptional sire, producing multiple champions in both the United States and the United Kingdom. In the 1980s, Northern Dancer's stud fee reached a record US $1 million! Northern Dancer and his sons (Danzig, El Gran Senor, Lyphard, Nureyev, Storm Bird, Nijinksy, Vice Regent, and others) established a royal dynasty that continues to dominate the international Thoroughbred horse market.Artist Heather Rohde's vibrant fine art portrait of Northern Dancer is the perfect way to remember the great stallion. Quote on the border of the artwork states: "The Thoroughbred has been forever changed by this little horse with a giant's heart." You can purchase Northern Dancer either unframed or framed under glass in a brown wood designer frame with an antique white mat. Your Northern Dancer Thoroughbred horse racing art is hand signed and numbered by the artist and is of exceptional quality. A Certificate of Authenticity is included. Be sure to check our Rohde's other Thoroughbred horse art for more portraits that go along great with this one!
