Add this exclusive art tribute to horse racing star Mine That Bird to your home!
Mine That Bird's trainer Chip Woolley loaded the horse into a trailer attached to his pickup truck and drove 1,700 miles over 21 hours from New Mexico to get to the 2009 Kentucky Derby! Mine That Bird was a small horse going off at 50-1 odds in the big race, yet he scored a stunning 6-3/4 length victory! The margin was the largest since Assault won by eight lengths in 1946. With an inspired ride on the rail from jockey Calvin Borel, it all added up to one of the greatest Kentucky Derby upsets in 135 years. The "cowboy and his horse" beat four Hall of Fame trainers, the ruler of Dubai, and two very sentimental favorites. Mine That Bird is the leading money winner by the stallion Birdstone, the racehorse best known for winning the 2004 Belmont Stakes, preventing Smarty Jones from winning the Triple Crown. Before his Kentucky Derby win, Mine That Bird was voted 2008 Canadian Champion Thoroughbred 2-yr-old male horse. Artist Heather Rohde's fine art portrait of Mine That Bird is a great way to celebrate the achievements of this fine horse. Rohde has portrayed Mine That Bird on the day of his Kentucky Derby win. The piece features a quote on the bottom which reads: "Excellence is an attitude." It is available unframed or framed under glass in a brown wood designer frame with an antique white mat. Your Mine That Bird Thoroughbred horse racing art is hand signed and numbered by the artist and is of exceptional quality. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
