Own Rohde's fine art portrait of historic thoroughbred legend Colin!
Colin was born in 1905 at the legendary Castleton Stud in Kentucky. Consistently rated as one of the best horses in American Thoroughbred horse racing history and a true celebrity with both fans and horsemen, Colin raced 15 times in his two-year career (including the 1908 Belmont Stakes) and never lost a race. It would be 80 years before another top horse (Personal Ensign) retired unbeaten in America! Colin was owned by successful London-born financier, James R. Keene and trained by the top trainer of the day, James G. Rowe. (Rowe also trained Regret, the first filly to win the Kentucky Derby.) Colin was sired by Commando, the most successful son of famous Thoroughbred stallion Domino. Colin was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1956. Artist Heather Rohde's detailed art portrait of Colin features two views of the great horse: a head portrait and an action shot. A quote on the border of the piece reads: "He was simply unbeatable." You can purchase Colin as a fine art reproduction either unframed or framed under glass in a brown designer wood frame with an antique white mat. Your Colin Thoroughbred horse art is hand signed and numbered by the artist and is of exceptional quality. A Certificate of Authenticity is included. A wonderful collectible for anyone who loves the history of Thoroughbred horse racing!
