Devil Diver (St Germans x Dabchick) of Mrs. Helen Hay Whitney's legendary Greentree stable was an excellent horse who competed in the 1940s. He won 22 of his 47 starts, coming in second 12 times. Devil Diver won the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap in three consecutive years: 1943, 1944, and 1945, a record that has never been broken. He competed under a variety of distances under heavy weights. In his last year of racing, he was voted handicap horse of the year. Inducted into the U.S. Racing Hall of Fame in 1980, Devil Diver was also ranked #55 of the top 100 American racehorses of the 20th century.Rohde's fine art portrait of Devil Diver is a great way to honor this excellent horse. Quote on bottom of piece under the horse's name reads: "Greatness is revealed not by the lights that shine upon you but by the light that shines within you." You can purchase this fine portrait of Devil Diver either unframed or framed in a beautiful brown wood designer frame with an antique white mat. Your Devil Diver horse racing art is hand signed and numbered by the artist and is of exceptional quality. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
