Roamer was a fantastic early American racehorse whose story began as somewhat of an accident! His sire, Knight Errant, was a "teaser" stallion who jumped a fence to get at English-bred mare Rose Tree II, hence the name of the unexpected ill-bred foal: Roamer. Roamer was born in 1911 and was gelded almost immediately. Much to everyone's surprise, Roamer went on to become an exceptional racehorse who won 39 of his 98 starts, coming in second 26 times. Any distance and surface suited him. He carried more weight and broke more track records than any other American racehorse up to his time. At ages three and four, he was the undisputed champion of American horse racing. Roamer retired in 1918 and was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1981.Rohde's fine art portrait of Roamer is a great way to honor this excellent horse. Quote on bottom of piece under the horse's name reads: "He is as smart as they come but honest as the day is long. He will give up to the last ounce of speed he has on tap." You can purchase this fine portrait of Roamer either unframed or framed in a beautiful brown wood designer frame with an antique white mat. Your Roamer horse racing art is hand signed and numbered by the artist and is of exceptional quality. A Certificate of Authenticity is included. Be sure to check out Rohde's other portraits of famous Thoroughbred racehorses!
